"Big Annie" is certainly not the most refined mare to look at, but, her record for producing is incredible! She has obtained the status of Hornby Premium mare on 11 occasions, this rating is the highest rating given to mares under the British inspection system. Annie has produced 15 foals as a broodmare. Two of her purebred colts have acheived RID status as stallions, Kilpeck Diamond Knight and Hawkland's Silver Prince. Many stallions are unable to produce that one colt that is nice enough to pass his RID stallion inspection out of the possible hundreds of foals they might sire. A mare that can produce 2 out of 15 is exceptional. She is also the dam of purebred mare, Hawklands Princess Blue, "PB". PB has achieved  amazing success in the performance ring  at venues such as the great Hickstead and the like.

It may not be surprizing that Annie has had such an impact on the breed when you look toward her bloodlines. She is sired by Slyguff Hero who was a full brother to King of Diamonds. Annie's dam was sired by Laughton. Laughton was without doubt one of the best sires of performance Irish Draughts in the history of the breed.
